Total Portfolio Update: August 2020

The past month has been amazing for growth of my investments. I had a reshuffle of stocks I owned which has clearly paid off massively! Markets appear to have priced in or shrugged off any covid-19 concerns it had and is very much on the way back up.

Both the S&P 500 and NASDAQ hit record highs last week with encouraging consumer data and an indication from the Federal Reserve that interest rates will remain low for at least 5 years. However, concerns still remain of China-USA trade tensions; and if covid does indeed head for a serious second spike then this will be reflected in the markets.

In the UK policies such as ‘eat out to help out’ have been great success with 64 million discounted meals ordered in the first three weeks. The government is also trying to encourage workers to return to offices, according to the office of national statistics only 42% of workers were working at their normal place of work. There is a fear that if workers do not return to offices that this will cost city economies billions.

August has been amazing for my stocks and shares ISA with an increase of £431.30. Much of this has been attributed to two stocks: Rocket Companies (RKT) and Tortoise Acquisition (SHLL). I invested in RKT on it’s IPO date, the first time I have taken part in an IPO, and it promises to be a long term successful company disrupting the traditional mortgage industry. SHLL is gaining momentum due to its upcoming merger with Hyliion which is due in September.

Cryptocurrency continues to give great returns on investment and is by far still my best performing investment asset now giving me a ROI of 139%. The vast majority of my crypto assets consist of Crypto.com Coin (CRO) which has seen a consistent and steady rise in value which I expect to continue well into next year. CRO has amazing utility through the crypto.com app offering tiers of debit cards with increasing rewards based on stake amount. Plus their earn function continues to give great returns with interest of up to 18% on CRO and 10% on stable coins.
